Hello lovelies! Welcome to a new series on the blog called 3 Ways. This series is a new thing I’m starting this year to help you make the most of your closet with less. In the series I’m taking one or two staple pieces and styling them 3 different ways to show you how to work with all the pieces in your closet that you may have been hesitant to mix and match. The series will also have color variations of certain staples as well to show you how to mix colors.
If you follow me on IG, you already got to see my wonderful photoshoot (courtesy of my husband) of my chambray shirtdress made from Simplicity 8546 View C. I styled this shirtdress 3 ways and I’m sharing them with you today. Here we go!
STYLED ALONE
Normally you’d see your girl in some leggings as I don’t really like to show my legs too much, but I wanted to showcase the versatility of a shirtdress for lounge wear. Shirtdresses are perfect throw ons over tank tops and t shirts and depending on the fabric you choose can be super comfy. Another option with a lone shirtdress? Thigh high boots! Mine didn’t go to the thigh, but you get the idea.
STYLED OPEN WITH JEANS
The perfect styling for a warm day with a cool breeze. Pair a shirtdress with a camisole or tank top and leave unbuttoned. The open shirt gives a good circular breeze, while still keeping you covered, almost like a light jacket. This look also allows you to show off a printed top underneath for some extra style. And lastly, layers are just awesome and useful.
STYLED WITH A SKIRT
Tuck it in! Honestly it doesn’t get easier or more fun than this. You can mix solids and prints, all solid colors or mix and match prints with this look. Spice it up with a belt on the skirt or at the waist depending on your skirt too.
Patterns and Modifications:
Chambray Shirtdress: Simplicity 8546, view C
Camisole: Ogden Cami by True Bias in sold out fabric from La Mercerie
Pintuck Jeans: Simplicity 8655 pants
Wrap skirt: McCall’s 7813 view A. Snap closure added to the front to keep the wrap closed.
Enjoy the series so far? Let me know what you think in the comments!
Xoxo,
Alexis
This is a great idea—really inspiring and creative.
