Hey reader, and happy National Sewing Month! Such a pleasure to share this make with you as it struck me completely out of my comfort zone.
This dress is the Sicily Slip Dress by Sewing Patterns by Masin and it definitely drew me in as it was a lovely simple but beautiful staple piece I just had to have. I also had the perfect fabric for it and I know I’ll be making this again and again in different ways (I’m thinking loungewear!). I think during this time we all need something to wear that makes us feel beautiful and utterly amazing, don’t you agree? I also feel every once in awhile a challenge is good to test your sewing skills and this was definitely one for me as I’ve never made a bias dress before. I was all on the floor and probably squatted and rolled more than I ever have to cut something in my life lol. So worth it though! This dress accentuates my curves wonderfully without being tight or revealing and I am in love with the PERFECT fit. Such a great pattern indeed.
Sizing, Mods and Fabric
For this pattern I made view B and graded from a size C in the bust and waist to a D in the hip. I also used view A’s length as I wanted it midi length. The construction was simple as the facing is built into the dress and overall was a nice evening sew. I draped the pattern overnight and had no hemming issues
The fabric is a Viscose Batiste found HERE.

Thanks for reading!

Gorgeous!

Perfect match of pattern and fabric choice; and you’ve also nailed the fit. If you make any more Sicily Slip dresses I’d love to see them too.
